Last night I got out there and completed the Saturn gear. I clamped my improvised “bird’s mouth” (made from a chunk of old 2×4) into the vise and went at it. I only mention it because I rediscovered a truism: with enough practice you eventually find the right rhythm for sawing and what is difficult in the beginning becomes much easier and the results improve.

I then sanded off the saw marks and called it done. It isn’t nearly as pretty as the ones cut with the CNC machine but I think it will work.

No photos though. I had my phone in my pocket, I could have but didn’t.
