I found a reproduction rabbetting plane on Ebay.  Today I brought it
into the office since some others had expressed an interest in it.  The
reactions were interesting; most of them were beside the point and
misguided.  Some examples:

“That’s a nice piece of wood.”  It wasn’t – it was a chunk of 2X4
that I had planed one side of in order to demo the plane.  Just goes to
show you – clean up a piece of wood – no matter how cheap – and people
will be fooled into thinking it’s high quality.

“You need to use a router.”  I hate this one.  When demonstrating a
hand tool, the goal is typically not to put a profile on a long piece
of wood quickly.  I do have a router; probably a nicer one than anybody
who makes that comment.

Interesting but annoying.
